Terms of Service

Effective 2 September 2026

These terms govern your use of MathDB, operated by MathDB. By using the site you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy, which forms part of them.

Your content

You keep the copyright in everything you post. You licence it to everyone under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0): anyone may copy, quote, adapt and build on it, commercially included, provided they credit you. So you cannot un-licence a contribution once it is posted — deleting it removes it from MathDB, but existing copies stay lawful. Post only what is yours to licence, and grant us the right to host, display and index it.

Mathematical content is not verified

MathDB does not check whether anything posted here is mathematically correct. A proof, a counterexample, a claimed status or a recorded AI result is the claim of whoever posted it. Votes measure what readers thought, not truth. Our record of who posted what and when does not establish academic priority.

Acceptable use

Do not post others’ work as your own, spam, harass anyone, or post unlawful material. Disagreeing forcefully about mathematics is welcome; being unpleasant to the person you disagree with is not. Moderators may remove content or block accounts, with a stated reason recorded in an audit log. Write to admin@mathdb.com to dispute a decision or to report a copyright infringement.

Automated access

Search and AI crawlers may access public pages when they follow our robots.txt, identify themselves accurately, and use a reasonable request rate. Do not overload the service or evade technical controls. Reuse of contributions is governed by their licence, which we cannot withdraw and are not attempting to. MathDB’s assistant connector is documented on the connector page; write to us if you need other access at scale.

Transfer, changes and governing law

We may transfer MathDB to another person or institution; your rights and the licence covering your contributions carry across unchanged. We may update these terms, with notice before a material change. They are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, and disputes belong to its courts. If any provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in force.
