The physical-lax-tensor conjecture for wiring diagrams and monoidal lenses
The physical-lax-tensor conjecture for wiring diagrams and monoidal lenses
A physical produoidal category induces a multicategory by means of its physical lax tensor. For a symmetric monoidal category, let the multicategory of wiring diagrams be the multicategory whose operations are wiring diagrams, and let the monoidal lenses form a produoidal category.
Physical-lax-tensor conjecture. The multicategory of wiring diagrams of symmetric monoidal categories is the multicategory induced by the produoidal category of monoidal lenses.
This gives a precise formulation of the relationship between wiring diagrams and lenses in terms of the physical lax tensor. The source does not state whether the claim has been proved, and it may be a more explicit formulation of the preceding conjecture.
