Nonfree local modules detect algebra automorphisms

Let AA be an algebra in a monoidal category, and let MM be a local AA-module. Say that MM is free if it is a free right AA-module.

Automorphism-detection conjecture. If MM is not free, then MM cannot be fixed by all algebra automorphisms of AA.

The claim complements the preceding observation that free right AA-modules are fixed by every algebra automorphism. No proof or resolution is supplied in the source.
