McMullen's conjecture on 1-neighborly reorientations

Let ν(r,k)\nu(r,k) be the largest nn such that every uniform oriented matroid of rank rr on nn elements has a kk-neighborly reorientation. McMullen's conjecture. For every r3r\geq 3,

ν(r,1)=2r1.\nu(r,1)=2r-1.

This conjecture has been verified for r5r\leq 5 but remains open otherwise.
