The small cancellation torsion subgroup conjecture

Let GG be a group defined by a small cancellation presentation. A subgroup of GG is torsion if every one of its elements has finite order.

Small cancellation torsion subgroup conjecture. Every torsion subgroup of GG is finite.

The paper proves this conjecture for groups defined by C(4)C(4)--T(4)T(4) small cancellation presentations, so the general statement remains open.
