Profinite Ellis group conjecture for groups over p-adic closed fields

Let $M$ be a $p$-adic closed field and let $G$ be a group definable in $M$. The profinite Ellis group conjecture. The Ellis group of the flow $S_{G,\operatorname{ext}}(M)$ is abstractly isomorphic to a profinite group. This proposes a profinite form for Ellis groups arising from definable groups over $p$-adic closed fields; the source gives no resolution of the conjecture.
