Manin–Mumford conjecture for formal groups

Let $G$ be a semi-abelian variety. Define a special subvariety to be a translate of a semi-abelian subvariety of $G$ by a torsion point, and call the zero-dimensional special subvarieties special points. Manin–Mumford conjecture. Every irreducible component of the Zariski closure of a set of special points is a special subvariety. The paper recalls this classical formulation as background for its study of analogous statements for $p$-divisible formal groups.
