The BLMPR conjecture on effective theta characteristics of tropical plane quartics
The BLMPR conjecture on effective theta characteristics of tropical plane quartics
Let be a smooth plane quartic and assume that its tropicalization is tropically smooth. The seven odd theta characteristics of are the tropicalizations of four effective theta characteristics of , counted with multiplicity.
BLMPR conjecture. Each of the seven odd theta characteristics of is the specialization of four effective theta characteristics of , counted with multiplicity.
This conjecture concerns the specialization of theta characteristics from algebraic plane quartics to tropically smooth tropical plane quartics. It was established by Chan and Jiradilok for tropical plane quartics of the combinatorial type known as -curves; the parser records the conjecture as resolved.
